Sometimes life gives you lemons…

These cards may not seem like they are part of my mothers day card extravaganza, and that might be a valid observation since these cards are going to some very special people.  See, much like myself, not everyone is lucky enough to be able to participate in this holiday in the manner in which it ‘designed’.  That doesn’t mean those women don’t still touch the lives of children, or wouldn’t give their left arm to change things, or don’t still deserve to feel loved on a day that excludes them.  I said in my first mother’s day card post that there was a saying going through my head that was motivating me, it is:

Here’s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.

I know I try to do my share trying to raise them with nieces.  I am constantly telling them that I believe that they are the very best kind of princesses, the self saving kind.  This mothers day I celebrate the strong women who came before me and made me who I am today, and the strong women that are raising our girls of today, but most of all I celebrate all of the strong women that I see growing before me.  Anyway, I made this card for Mojo Monday 445 using this sketch:

Great quote and absolutely love the SSS sentiment — definitely one of my favorites from their card kits so far! That is very admirable that you are raising your nieces 🙂 Good idea to celebrate ALL women on Mother’s Day and not just “mothers.” I made my Mother’s Day cards similarly by not using a “Mother’s Day” sentiment and focused more on a “thinking of you” theme. Glad to see I’m not the only one! TFS 🙂

With our nieces (and nephews) we are not their primary care givers, but we do try and help out in anyway and as much as we can. I just wanted to make sure that I cleared that up 🙂 . I really believe it takes a village to raise a child, and we are lucky to be part of some great kids villages. Both my husband and I had amazing aunts and uncles that set the bar really high!
