Birthday cake

Birthday cake

I had a wonderful summer.  It stayed nice and cool around here which makes me think we are in for a hot fall.  I hate that the kids are all headed back to school now, but I also love that they are learning new things.  I am trying to remember how to do things around here as well, and it is deffinetly causing me to change this and that.  Some on purpose some just because of memory disconnects,  So don’t be to suprised if you notice things changing.  I did say something in the last post.  I have changed my base cards.  I am no longer making them myself, but I am now puchasing ready-made base cards.  I need to update the information on them throughout the website still.  Things will get back to normal soon.  Just need to work on the transition from summer back to normal.

Summer!  I hope every one is having a fun safe time.  I am not spending much time making cards, but I am ok with that.  I will be back to work soon enough.  Just pooping in real quick to post this and say Hi!  I will have more time in the near future and have some changes coming when i do, if you look closely at this card you might notice one….

Bee awesome

Bee awesome

I have a love/hate relationship with bees.  I love honey and I love the imagery.  I am just really severely allergic to the little buggers.

I started by stamping the two bees and the honeycombs and then watercoloring them.  I then cut the strip that goes in back and the scalloped border and glued the border on.  I cut the small box for the text and stamped it.  Finally, I affixed everything to the front of the card.

One in a melon

I keep getting hung up on this challenge, which has been happening a lot lately.  My brain doesn’t always like to work with me.  I kept getting hung up on having the perfect paper to match the photo and not being able to make it work with the card.  So, I decided to just make a fun summery card and the watermelon just jumped out at me.  Then all of a sudden today it struck me that it is a triangle.  I still used a triangle, just in another way…

I started by stamping the sentiment on the background in first the pink and then the green.  I then stamped the outline of the melon above it in black and watercolored it in with the pink and green.  I cut and placed the strip.  I finished by affixing everything to the card base.

In my heart

In my heart

Summer has hit our house.  It is taking me a bit to get used to the change in schedule and whatnot.  I am sure that it will pass much too quickly in most ways as it does every year, and yet getting through the heat is never fun.

I started by stenciling the background on to the cardstock with the iced spruce and then misting it very lightly, I then moved it just a bit and added the vintage photo color and dabbed it with a wet paper towel.  I then set it aside to dry and cut and stamped the sentiment blocks.  I then affixed everything to the front of the card.
