I love that I am revisiting some of my old stamps! I knew as soon as I saw that there was a chance to play with this pig again I was going to take it. I just love this little guy! read more
I think this card turned out to be really pretty. I don’t think the punches that I did show up very well, but that is ok. The design on this card is Warbler and Magnolias. When I was water coloring the magnolias I used some victorian velvet to start with a strong base color and then I mix in a bit of picket fences and then finish coloring out the petals. It gives it a nice orchre effect.
This was a monumental card for me. You see in a way it all started with this mouse. A year ago I made my first card with a digital stamp: Happy Birthday Mouse. I have learned so much in this past year! Today, however, I seemed to just be stuck on the lesson that things don’t always work out and just need to be in the recycle bin.
There are at least three versions of this card in my recycling bin right now. I just couldn’t get things to work the way I wanted them to. I am not sure that I am completely satisfied with the way this version looks, but there is definitely a point where I am pretty sure I am just being overly picky. Sometimes I suspect that the act of scraping a project in and of itself is part of the art.
I totally overlooked the first day of spring coming because of it not being on the calendar I use for birthdays, and it being so close to St. Patrick’s day. I must admit that we have several calendars hanging up in out house so it really is just a case of which one I happen to look at. I also have at least three on my computer/phone/tablet. You would think I would be better at not missing dates, but the truth is it is still kind of hit or miss. I also have to admit that for friends and family instead of asking a lot of the time I play ‘private detective’ and try and figure out dates by using social media, I don’t know how accurate I am or how many I miss that way. It’s already hard enough trying to get everyone’s address.
Again I feel like I just have had my second occurrence of being pointed at something I need to add to my crafting arsenal. This time I need to go find some flowers to add to my cards. I think especially now that it’s starting to get a bit more spring feeling I am going to want to play with them more. Well, all I can say is I already was planning a trip to the craft store, but then again when am I not?
