I {heart} Sketches with a tWist

Snowman joy

I am trying something new this year, let’s see how this goes. Instead of just doing a flurry of holiday cards right before the holiday in question (yea, I will still be doing a bit of that as well.) I am going to try and do at least one of each a month. I know I am a bit behind it being the end of February and all, but better late than never.

Wee bit o’ cheer

Wee bit o’ cheer

Making cards I notice what I seem to not have in my arsenal of crafting supplies. I have had two cards lately that have made me realize that I need to pick up some twine. I even saw a handy video on how to store it and I already have the items needed. Well, I was already planning a trip to the craft store tomorrow, hopefully twine will find its way home with me. Now what colors should I get…

Valentines hogs & kisses

Valentines hogs & kisses

Isn’t this little guy just the cutest? My nephew was commenting on him and I told him that his name was “PigWit” which he thought was a good name. Then he said but the saying is wrong. Hogs have tusks, and if his name is PigWit he isn’t a hog. Leave it to the nine year old that I have worked so hard on teaching the value of vocabulary and zoology to point out how my card isn’t correct. How can a moment both make you so proud and just all of a sudden realize that your hours of hard work are really strangely disappointing? I thought the saying was cute? It’s just a card…

Happy flip flops

I made this card without looking at the twist. I had just made another card with the palm tree paper and was in a beachy mood, this image just kind of spoke to me. Today when I looked at the twist I was completely surprised. You would have thought I had things together much better than I actually do. I joke that I could plan my own surprise party, except it isn’t that much of a joke.

Ice cream not broccoli

Ice cream not broccoli

The funny thing to me about this card is that I would probably still choose the broccoli. It is one of my favorite foods after all. Ice cream is good and all, but I have problems with the dairy and sometimes with the cold and right now I am on medicine that doesn’t really allow for eating sugar or sugar substitutes. Wow, I really will opt for the broccoli! Which is just fine, I have plenty of volunteers around who will gladly eat my ice cream for me, and they even let me try a bite to see me make yuck face when I forget it smells better than it tastes.

Chemical love

Chemical love

Leave it to a nerd girl to make the nerd girl card a little extra nerdy.  I was telling my husband that I thought I had possibly done just that, and he was questioning how I could have done so, then when he looked at the card he asked “Should I know what those symbols mean?”.  They are the chemical components for love, dopamine, serotonin, and acetylcholine. When you marry a girl who thinks a hot date is going to the science museum you kind of know that she is a bit of a nerd.  It’s one of those things that I have had to learn to be OK with, but the truth is there is absolutely no denying it nerd, geek, smartypants what ever you want to call it I am a huge one.
