Witches dance

Sometimes I find card making supplies in other sections of the store. I just went through the Michaels website and I can’t find the bat and ghost anywhere. That could be because I found them in the party section? They were packaged to be scattered on a table as a part of a Halloween party decoration series that I don’t think they have this year. Then again I buy kitchen supplies at the hardware store.

Birthday hearts and flowers

Wondering how things will work leads to a lot of the cards that I make. The background of this card is definitely a case of this. Playing with colors, playing with resist spray, playing with water. It’s nice when it all works out in the end!

Autumn sprite

Isn’t she cute? I just love this little sprite. The quote makes me unbelievably happy as well. “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower” -swoon That is exactly how I feel. This card came together so well that it exceeded my expectations completely! Even when I was playing around making the background paper my husband peeked at it and said “That’s fall”, I knew I had it right at that point.

For you with thanks

The pain in my arm is not helping me at all. It is getting better, slowly. I wish it would hurry up a bit. I just deleted everything that I had written for this post on accident…oops. I also should have used a lighter cardstock for the background of this card but didn’t really realize that until way too late. Again, oops.

Caught a bug?

My shoulder is currently not playing nice. It is trying to get my neck to join it, but it is holding out for the most part. I don’t know what exactly is up with it, I just know it hurts. I hate when this happens. I thought when I woke up this morning that it had worked itself out but I was wrong.

Belated birthday sloth

While I was making this card I kept thinking about a show I would watch with my nephew when he was a wee one. The main character was a large sloth named Snook. We would watch it at the same time as my mother-in-law and niece were watching it down the street, we had a couple of shows we co-watched with people. The really frustrating thing was they moved the time it was on all of a sudden and it threw off the schedule in both houses.

Birthday flowers

After today I do believe fall weather will officially be here. In order to not be so depressed by the numbers, I installed a weather app with puppies, that way no matter what at least I have cute puppies to look at. Well, the puppies say that today might hit the 80’s but the next nine days will be beautiful fall weather. Yay! Puppies and nice weather!

I like books

It is definitely not a lie. I like big books and small books, old books and new books, print books and ebooks, kids books and adult books, fiction and nonfiction. If it is readable at all then I pretty much am happy. The one standout used to be comics, I was ok with them I just didn’t love them. The reading challenge I have been doing has changed that. I don’t do a lot of audiobooks. I guess I need to get better at them since several of the books I want from the library only come that way.

Fall squirrel

Is it here yet? Ah, fall, how I love you. I am already getting excited about putting more blankets back on the bed. I know that we will probably have at least some more heat, but it is so close I can taste it. Oh, and it tastes wonderful! A bit like pumpkin spice…

Getting back to work from vacation mode has been hard. I think it is particularly difficult when we do basically a staycation just focus on things other than work. I rearranged my work area a bit hoping that it would help me get back into things. The lie I tell myself is that if I limit my area I will then realize I need to limit the number of supplies I can keep in that area. LOL! Craftaholic hoarding is a serious issue.

Two hearts

Catch up. I made this card and it just didn’t get posted. It has been patiently waiting for its turn, and I just seem to be doing something else every time I sit down at the computer. I think that things are finally getting back on track after summer, but it is definitely taking time.

Halloween owl

You know that feeling when you get home from vacation and realize that you are behind on everything, but you just aren’t ready to end the vacation relaxation quite yet? That is where I am at right now. I am getting some stuff done, but I still feel really far behind.

Silly Old Bear

Being asked to be a guest librarian at my favorite challenge is a huge honor to me! I was asked what my favorite book is, and although like many readers it is generally hard to pick just one, I do have an all-time favorite. Winnie the Pooh has been close to my heart as long as I can remember. I even disappeared while a neighbor was watching me as a child to go look at the book in my closet back at home sending them into a small panic. My nephew and I had a discussion about the characters and which was my favorite and I said answered “Well, Pooh” one of the reasons is because he doesn’t leave anyone out, all of the archetypes in the hundred acre woods are his friends and he knows they all have something he can learn from and likes it best when they are themselves. My nephew then said, “Auntie you really are Pooh.” I think that is one of the best compliments ever!

Home

Summer vacation is coming to an end and I have been playing a bit of hookey. Between getting to spend some quality time with my nephew, and reorganizing my work area I think that I am ready for summer to come to an end. Well, in some ways, yes and in some ways no, but at least I don’t feel like it is the worst thing ever.

Back to school apples

An apple for the teacher. It seems a bit antiquated but I was just doing a bit of looking on the web as to the whys and wherefores and it is still something people do. It is rather a fascinating bit of culture I think. The thing is that I know what begins with looking for a simple answer on it will lead me on several hours long journey throughout the internet if I am not careful. There seem to be very few simple answers some days.

Blanket and pillow

The sentiment on this card is pretty much always accurate in my life. They are loud too. I think this would be a lovely card to frame and display in a bedroom. Then again it could be a good invitation for a snuggle as well. I think it is fun to think about the different scenarios that could be good for different cards sometimes.

Colorful Birthday

When I went to bed last night this card did not have the sequins added. I just kept thinking about it while I was falling asleep and realized that it was what was needed. I am glad that my mind will sometimes keep working on a card like that. Sometimes it doesn’t’ really come up with an answer, but occasionally it does. The true question is whether I will actually remember that answer the next morning. Much like all of the brilliant plans thought out in the shower that disappear as soon as I turn the water off.

Batz for Halloween

Bats are really cool. A friend of mine nursed one back to health that flew into her apartment and was injured. When my nephew was young he always wanted to camp out at the bat exhibit at the zoo. One of the cool things is that here in Oregon are bats only eat insects and they eat a lot of them! Something like 1,000 an hour. They also are good at pollinating. There young are called pups which is also very sweet.
