Special Dad

This card wasn’t really planned out. I have been eyeing the digistamp that I used as the main design for a while and keep trying to think of a good way to use it, and yesterday I went ahead and bought it. I knew I wanted to use it with the background paper chose but didn’t have a sketch or anything like that. I just kind of put everything together until it looked nice.

Blossom baby

Sweet sleepy babies! I realized the other day that I don’t really have babies anymore. My youngest nephew is about to turn three. Well, I think they are all still pretty dang cute and sometimes I even still get snuggles. Honestly, I am just glad that we are moving into a diaper free stage (hopefully?!?)

Paisleys for Dad

It was fun to pull out these stamps and play with them. They were given to me when I first started out by a very sweet friend. I love that several of the stamps and papers I use came to me from others. When I am constructing cards using these items I am thinking about them and that gives me yet another chance to feel closer to others through making cards.

Same stars

Yesterday, I was just off. I tried making some cards and they all failed horribly, except this one. I ended up just finishing the book I was reading and not doing all that much more. Hopefully, today will be a better day.

Father gnome

It’s that time of year to start working on Father’s day cards. I love this set of gnome stamps and I really don’t use them enough. I feel like I say that a lot. I am working on trying to use some of my little-used stamps more often though!

Understanding and forgiveness

Just when I think that I am fairly well read and this challenge will be easy… I am loving it though, my to read list is growing and that actually makes me happy. My poor husband has started to get confused by my talk of the various book challenges that I am partaking in at any given time. I just really like to read, anything and everything really, in fact, the one spot I was a bit of hold out on (comics/graphic novels) has now become a daily read as well.

Ombre birthday wishes

Playing with stencils! I have had a couple of things recently that have pushed me towards pulling things out and playing with stencils. I really need to get some more, I am sure I will soon.

Grad monster

These little monsters make me smile! I think they are just so cute. I cut out the diploma for the corner and the bow that was part of the cut didn’t make it, so I figured this was a good way to add one back in that fit nicely with the sketch I used.

Light in the storm

The blue glittery paper I used on this card came from a giveaway I won awhile back and I absolutely love it! I think it works really well on this card since it gives the feeling of storminess in the background. It does make me want to go to the coast awfully bad though!

Get Well Camellia

In our old house, we had a camellia bush in front. I have had a soft spot for them ever since then. I love how pretty, and hardy they are. I tried to grow a lot of things in that yard and nothing really worked, at least not anything that flowered.

Bee happy

This sketch kept calling to me yesterday. I was frustrated that I couldn’t get something on the web to work and so I was just going to read, but I just kept having ideas about how to use this sketch. The funny thing is that all of my ideas were thrown out when I started actually making the card, and as soon as I finished it the web thing worked, and I normally have a problem with the three boxes not getting the right measurements so they don’t have a nice space between them. I did manage to read a bit also!

No.1 Teacher

Apparently, yesterday was teacher appreciation day? I didn’t know, what is worse is that I didn’t even know that was a thing. I think for the most part that it is a good thing, most of the teachers out there are doing amazing work and are sorely underappreciated for it.

Vegetable tower

Oh! A cookbook I hadn’t read before! It took me a bit to make my card because I took the time to read the cookbook this challenge was based on first. It not only was an interesting book, lot’s of talk about travels, but it was a vegetarian cookbook as well.

Birthday Panda

This was a great chance to use my birthday stamp! If you are wondering why the stamp on this card isn’t listed in the tools section on my blog, it is because it is a super special stamp. I just realized why what I thought didn’t work right yesterday actually did, I just didn’t realize it was. That is what happens when I take a bit of a break I guess.

Purr

This last week I shifted focus from card making to website stuff. Most of it isn’t things that you can ‘see’ although my husband has been at work on that stuff as well. This card I made before I took my small break(?) and forgot I hadn’t posted it yet. Today I have been trying to get back into the groove of posting and have fought with every program in some way so far.

May flowers

The last few days we have had summer weather, 80 degrees and sunny, and now it is gray rainy and cold again. I do believe spring in Oregon has officially sprung! I love all of the ladybugs on the flowers in this image. It reminds me of my wedding bouquet, it was covered in ladybugs! That might bother some, my dog is scared of ladybugs, but I have always heard they are good luck so I thought it was a good sign.

Amazing Mom

Weather this week is all over the place. Today and tomorrow it is supposed to get rather warm and then it is supposed to be cold again. It’s nice and sunny looking out my window which is nice. I just wish that it would make up its mind and that it would choose a nice 75 degrees with a light breeze and not to much sun…

Sew much

Sometimes I put together a card and realize that I am not exactly sure what I think I am doing is translating very well, but then I love how the card looks so I am not always sure that it really matters. I mean art is all about how you (the viewer) interprets it and if you enjoy it, and these are many times mini artworks right?
