wishing you Happy Birthday

There is always a fun moment when I decide to use something and realize that I am not sure I have what I need to use it. This was the first time I used a large background stamp and I hadn’t thought about it not fitting in my mini Misti. I think I managed to get it to work just fine, but there are now new items on my wishlist…

Wine

We just ventured through Oregon wine country on the way to the coast to celebrate our anniversary. I miss visiting the local wineries, Oregon has some really awesome vineyards. I just don’t have the mobility anymore, or the ability to drink. It is still beautiful to drive through especially at this time of year.

Wreath of greenery

Happy Halloween! I am looking forward to handing out candy to the little ghouls and goblins that stop by tonight. Hopefully, it is a good night for the kids to be able to get out. Wishing everyone a spooky day and hopefully, you get the candy you enjoy instead of rocks!

Baby

Being tired is no fun. I have been fighting fatigue a lot lately and I hate to say at the moment I think it is winning. My bedtime is earlier than my nieces and nephews, and I take a nap every day. The thing is even when I am awake I am extremely tired and it has been making it hard to accomplish much of anything.

So thankful

Lately when I start looking around on my desk for something, I make myself stop for a second and look straight in front of me. It is amazing how many times that is exactly where the item is. Now if I can just figure out a way to not lose what I wanted to talk to a person about when I get a chance to see them, or just remember why I wanted to go to a particular store, or why I went into the other room…

Skull trooper

My nephew named this card for me. He saw it sitting on my desk when I was working on it and he was excited that I made a Skull trooper card. It is and it isn’t. I was really just playing around with some ephemera and really liked how this looked. We see what we want to see, isn’t that what art is all about?

Grateful flowers

This card has been taunting me. I have had it sitting on my desk and I keep looking at it, and I just finally grabbed it and finished it. The first time I tried to use the foil in my laminator it didn’t work so well, but this time things worked really well. I just need to keep trying sometimes and not let myself get discouraged. I am pretty sure that is just one of those life lessons everyone has to face.

Paisley congratulations

That feeling when I look at a sketch and think “Oh, I have that stamp!” I know I didn’t have to use paisleys on the card, but I just love that it makes me get out a stamp that I may not use as much. This stamp set was actually given to me by a friend so it is all that much more exciting to get to pull it out and use it.

Pumpkin patch kitty

This was the first stamp I purchased from Newton’s Nook. I still love it! It is just weird sometimes for me to think about things like that. I don’t know what was making me think about it really. I get strangely sentimental sometimes, it used to happen a lot, now it seems to just come up once in a while.

Alcohol inks are way to much fun! I doubled my color pallet today, and I picked up a couple of tools to play with as well. Now I am playing around with different papers and techniques. This time I used the backside of photo paper. Which is kind of awesome because years ago I bought a huge package at Costco and now I have something to use it up with.

Batz

The universe spoke and I listened! I had an idea of making the sky background with my currently limited pallet of alcohol inks and was kind of playing around with it. Then I noticed the Library challenge for Dracula, which I could have done so many cards for, but the cover really struck me. Then I received a newsletter from Odd Ball Art co. with the bats, and I knew what I needed to do.

Autumn floral thanks

My mind has been busy design cards lately and I am trying to catch up with it. I wish I had a way to take the ideas that clutter my mind out and save them until I have time to give them the attention they deserve. The problem is that a lot of the time it is more concepts than anything else and I don’t know how you would save that. I will just have to try and do my best to find a balance.

Skully birthday

This week has just been kinda crap. If something could go wrong, it probably would. The thing is it isn’t as bad as it could be? Like the shower head broke, but not to the point of being unusable just inconvenient. I have a bit of a cold, but not to the point that I am able to just go read and be miserable. I made this card for my nieces birthday and am just now getting it posted, her birthday was Wednesday.

Magic school memories

Whenever I see this photo I think of a Quidditch team. I wanted to tell a bit of that story that pops up in my head on this card. The really fun part was making the background. I have been trying to figure out alcohol inks and this was my first really good one. I think I am finally getting the hang of it. What a fun new medium! Now if I can just get over this bit of cold I brought home from the pumpkin patch.

Woman at the window

This year I seem to be reading a lot. I know I always say I read a lot, but this year I am having a hard time figuring out how many books to challenge myself with on the yearly Goodreads reading challenge. In the past I have set it based on the year before and it has worked pretty well. This year I took on another reading challenge that opened up graphic novels/comics in a way that has been a lot more accessible to me. Now, I am having to figure out what is a reasonable number to read in a year. By the way if you are also on Goodreads feel free to friend me!

Halloween carving

That squirrel with the knife is a bit scary. I mean overall I think it is a really cute scene, I just then realize that one of the squirrels is wielding a knife and that is a bit unsettling. Then again I had squirrels trap me in my van one day so it just might be that we have overly aggressive big city squirrels around here and I wouldn’t be surprised if one knew how to use a knife.
