This was the first stamp I purchased from Newton’s Nook. I still love it! It is just weird sometimes for me to think about things like that. I don’t know what was making me think about it really. I get strangely sentimental sometimes, it used to happen a lot, now it seems to just come up once in a while.
The universe spoke and I listened! I had an idea of making the sky background with my currently limited pallet of alcohol inks and was kind of playing around with it. Then I noticed the Library challenge for Dracula, which I could have done so many cards for, but the cover really struck me. Then I received a newsletter from Odd Ball Art co. with the bats, and I knew what I needed to do.
Bats are really cool. A friend of mine nursed one back to health that flew into her apartment and was injured. When my nephew was young he always wanted to camp out at the bat exhibit at the zoo. One of the cool things is that here in Oregon are bats only eat insects and they eat a lot of them! Something like 1,000 an hour. They also are good at pollinating. There young are called pups which is also very sweet.
So many times I feel the universe is telling me something if I just choose to listen. This was definitely one of those times. Just this last weekend a friend was over and we were looking at my paper stash and she eeked out at my trick-or-treater paper. Then there is a challenge for trick or treat, well I knew exactly what to use! read more
Sometimes I look at a sketch and keep getting hung up on an idea and it takes me a bit to reorientate my mind to think about it a bit differently. I kept just seeing the flowers on this sketch and knowing that wasn’t what I wanted to do, and then my mind would head towards snowflakes but I don’t have the right things to do that. Finally, I remember these stamps! read more
