D]oes a birthday card have to say ‘Happy Birthday’ to be a birthday card? I am giving this as a birthday card, although I realize there is technically nothing that makes it a birthday card. These are the things that drive me to overthink. read more
I love this card! I keep imagining a quaint little coffee shop with this being the scene outside in the morning. What a great place to visit, especially if it were your birthday! I have to admit that I borrowed a technique for the balloons from a recent blog hop and I can’t remember who to credit with the amazing idea, but they are just cut out of card stock and then covered in Ranger Glossy Accents which gives them that balloon-like quality.
I love the sketch for this weeks challenge! I made both a puppy and a kitty version of this card. I couldn’t just choose one. The funny thing is the idea for this card is what got me out of bed this morning. The only reason I think that is funny is because with the time change I could have easily stayed in bed a lot longer. I just really wanted to get out and get started on making this card.
This image always reminds me of a friend of mine who loves her striped socks! Oh, and reading and kitties. I think it makes me want to make sure that the striped socks are always in fun colors because of her. I definitely used two of my favorite tools in making this card, my water-brush for the watercolor work and my Cricut for the flower paper strip and the vellum banners. I also used my mini Misti to stamp the image to make sure that I got a good clean stamp, however I would say that lately I love my laser printer just as much for digital images so that is a bit of a toss up on favorite tools. Honestly, every card I make uses one of my absolutely favorite tools my Scotch ATG which I use to adhere all of my card images and my envelope liners.
I made both a kitty and a puppy version of this card. I know some people are cat people and some are dog people, I am an animal person when it comes down to it. I am not a fan of rodents, but other than that… Right now we have a dog and a gecko. Our nephew thinks the next pet needs to be a turtle. I am honestly having a horrible case of puppy-itis right now.
