Teacup fairy

Teacup fairy

I just love this little fairy! She even got me to break out one of those coveted pieces of paper that I hate to cut into. Ok, I have come to the realization that the paper is so much better if it actually gets used on cards than if it gets hoarded in my paper boxes for that future ‘perfect’ card. It is similar to the cleaning method of reminding myself that ‘Things aren’t memories, memories are memories.’, so if I am holding on to something just because it reminds me of something is silly.

This was not an easy card to make at all. It took days for everything to come together. Oh, but how I love it now that it’s done! I am not exactly sure how I got the color of the hair or the wings to turn out the way they did, but they came out exactly how I wanted them to. The glitter on the shamrock could have been a bit cleaner, but I love the flecks of gold that I didn’t even realize that where there! Three days later… was worth it this time.

I found someplace local that carries the glimmer paste. I am in trouble now, especially since they occasionally will have really good coupons. When I can only find something online, and coupons are not an option, it limits how much I can justify getting another one just because I like the color. Of course, then again, I really like that shopping at this place is supporting a local business so I do tend to prefer to spend a bit more there just on principle. Well, all I can say, is this is where my policy of money made on making cards goes back into card supplies helps me with these dilemmas.

Mistakes were made.  That seems to be the tag line for my life a lot of times, this card had a lot of that as well.  However, there was definitely a lot of good as well.  I always start out making two cards that way I either have one that I can use and one that can go in the shop, or they can both go in the shop, or in this case one that goes terribly wrong and one that turns out.  Then there is the fact that I seemed to not realize what day of the week it was when I started doing the sketch that this card was based on.  When I started this card the challenge for this sketch had actually already closed, I have been so busy the last couple of days enjoying going swimming with my nephews that I didn’t realize it was already the weekend.  However, this morning when I looked and saw that this weeks challenge was for something from the archive I realized I wasn’t to late I was actually finishing just in time!  Thank goodness!  I just love this book bookworm fairy and want her to visit as many places as possible!

I love how beautiful she is!  I don’t know if I did her justice with this coloring, I was trying to do ombre, but it’s not something I have ever done and using new inks is a challenge as well.  I love the paper at the top of the card.  It reminds me of my cousin for some reason.
