I am trying something new this year, let’s see how this goes. Instead of just doing a flurry of holiday cards right before the holiday in question (yea, I will still be doing a bit of that as well.) I am going to try and do at least one of each a month. I know I am a bit behind it being the end of February and all, but better late than never.
This just needed to be a bit silly to me. I have sent out all of my official Christmas cards, but I still have some that I want to make. I was going to take a break from making cards and get some other much needed stuff done, but that doesn’t seem like much fun, so I am planning on just making a couple of cards that I really want to and still trying to get the other stuff done. We will see what actually happens…
I realized making this card that it kind of looks like our little family. One day my youngest nephew found a red whipped cream canister lid and was trying to get the dog to wear it on this nose. When my husband and I saw we couldn’t help but laugh that he was trying to turn the poor puppy in to Rudolph.
Every time I see the girl on this card I am reminded of my niece. It could have a lot to do with my choice of colors for her clothing. I have to say that this card has a soft spot in my heart. Ok, I love Halloween, but Christmas makes me just as crazy happy. I am a holiday kind of girl. My mom always said I would have been happiest celebrating every single holiday possible, even ones no one else had heard of, and there is a lot of truth in that. I think that is one of the things that making cards has allowed me to really do, I can let my love of the holidays and holiday decorations run a bit wild. Winnie the Pooh day is coming on January 18th are you ready?
I really like snowmen. Sometimes I find that making cards shows me things about myself that I either already knew (I really like blue and polka dots) or things that kind of surprise me (pink is actually not so bad?). My cards tend to reflect me whether I try to or not. I try to utilize a variety of patterns. colors, themes, etc. especially when I am making a card for someone who’s taste are different then mine, but I still know that since I am the one buying the stamps, papers, inks, etc. my taste will end up being in the mix. So, I guess there are going to be several snowmen cards.
